Chapter 1
A heated meeting was held in the cavernous meeting room of the Rolandsgaard castle. A man stood in the middle on the room, facing hundreds of humans and horses all from around the entire North of North; announcing to them about a situation that has begun to happen within the world. They watched him as he spoke to them, as he waved his hand in the direction of a young woman, who was waiting for her chance to speak.
"Ladies, gentlemen, and kind horses," He called out to them. "You were all called here to listen to the situation that has come upon us all. The leader of the Valnerians, (he glanced at the young woman, who rolled her eyes.) Had proclaimed that the Wolf Riders had returned and are becoming bolder then ever before, attacking villages and small towns.
At his words, whispers had flooded the large room, as horses and humans murmured among each other.
“However,” he continued, “I find this rather hard to believe-"
"What's so hard to believe?" The Valnerian Leader interrupting him, folding her arms as she spoke. "I know you know about there attempted raid on a small village not that far from here."
He smiled, shaking his head.
" Really I have not received that report, and frankly Sumatra we don't even know that is true, or a figure of your imagination. We all know on how you can be paranoid at times."
Sumatra glared at him in disbelief, then she shifted on the spot, anger in her voice.
"Paranoid! Of course, Governor Sora we all know how much your are paranoid too. As you sit there in your office worrying on how much gold you are gaining or loosing," Sumatra said shoving his words back at him. The other Valnerians chuckled there approval. The Valnerians were a group of immortal humans and their horse partners, who dedicated their lives to protect the North of North. They are peace keepers, and the protectors of the High Queen Bella. They wear a identical uniform; a simple brown over jacket over a tan tunic and trousers, with brown calf length boots. They each held a sword belted to there side and on his or her chest is a badge (baring the crests of the horse herds Airistos, Islandar, Shahazar, and Valeryk. In the middle, circled by the others was the crest for herd Bellasara.) Sumatra's uniform however is a little more different then the others, her over jacket is more oval-shaped towards the base, and it was trimmed in black and gold.
Governor Sora stared at Sumatra, his eyes narrowing, his tone of voice not as friendly.
"How dare you! Do you really think that you would be believed? You standing here tell the entire room this ridiculous story! Seriously woman! Were your proof?
"Proof! We have seen them!" the black stallion, Uranus boomed out suddenly, stumping a hoof on the second level made for the winged, air horses. "I have received reports on gathering Wolf Riders-"
"Preposterous," the Governor snorted.
Uranus snorted in anger; his ears pinned back.
The governor gave a small laugh as he turned away from Uranus.
"We have seen them too," came, Edana's voice, and small group of fellow water horses nodded in approval from there watery trench in the floor.
“Proof? There you go! Need anything else?" Sumatra added softly.
The governor shook his head, a grin spread across his face.
"Seriously!” he breathed. “For all I know these sightings of Wolf Riders could be simply normal grey wolf packs or even werewolves seen at a distance."
At this some of the witness begun to protest and Uranus gave a snort of disapproval.
Sumatra begun to laugh.
"You don't believe it because you haven't seen it for yourself! Is it typical politician behavior that all it is." Sumatra commented.
She had touched a nerve. Governor Sora spun around and advanced at her.
"What's your point, governor, what's your point?" Sumatra said folded her arms, glaring at him though her sharp blue eyes.
Governor Sora had opened his mouth to reply.
"The point is Sumatra, there is no basic proof. Hear say and stories don't count for anything. Either then rubbish and paranoia-"
"The hear say and stories, in which you call has been gathering," Sumatra snarled. “If I were you governor, I'll be getting my information, and hopefully pretty quick!”
"Really!Valnerian! That's easy for you to say, out there in the field! For my information, you are nothing more then a servant to the North or North! A soldier! If I were you, Sumatra, I'll show a little more respect." He snarled, a twisted grin across his face
Sumatra's eyes burned like fire. Suddenly a voice erupted though the room, interrupting the argument.
"Enough," said the voice. A white mare, which was standing on a high dais, over looking the argument, had spoke up at last. "Enough," she repeated.
Bella stared at the two of them, her gaze gentle but yet firm. She begun to walk down the steps before her. The group of Valnerians, who flanked the dais, separated allowing her space to descend. The closest ones of the group dropped to one knee in a sign of respect. And has not returned to there feet except when Bella gave them a nod as she past. She continued across the room, hooves clipping and clopping as she walked. As she came closer, Sumatra too had dropped to one knee and bowed her head.
"You may rise, Valnerian," she said, and Sumatra got back up on her feet. "Enough," she repeated for the last time. "I have heard enough here to recognize the problem and what needs to be done. And I must believe-"
"Forgive me your Majesty, but you seriously cannot believe...this...this...woman," the governor interrupted.
"You underestimate on what Ivenna can do, do you." Sumatra said a smile across her lips.
"No I don't," The governor snarled at her.
Bella however turned her head to stare at Governor Sora. "But yet you do, governor and by this I have to believe on what seems right. And there is more evidence there then it seems. I will not ignore the pleas of help from my people, governor."
And at these words the governor fell silent.
"I have taken the situation to consideration and found that it is a threat to the families and livelihood of the people of the North of North. It must be stopped before anything else happens." Bella looked around the room, waiting for the clapping and neighing to come to a complete stop before saying "This meeting is now closed."
At this, Governor Sora stormed out of the room.

Sumatra gave a snort as Governor Sora disappeared behind the great oak doors, She glanced around, feeling the tension of the worry of the people around her, as they leave the room. She turn to her followers, and waved for them to leave. The Valnerians filed out except for two, who flanked the dais and Sumatra herself.
"Sumatra."
Sumatra turned around and found Bella looking at her. The Valnerian waited for Bella, who was back talking with the other horse leaders. As the discussion was finished, the Kings and Queens turned to leave. Sumatra bowed to the leaders as they past, and they in return, show there graduated. The great, black stallion Bello walked past Sumatra. He gave her a gentle nod as he past; turning to wait as Bella came up beside Sumatra. Quickly, Bella said to Sumatra.
"I want you to meet me in the Multi-Windowed Room at sunset."
"Of course, as you wish," Sumatra bowed.
Bella smiled and then she continued on her way. Sumatra followed.

Sumatra descended down a flight of marble stairs, sometimes nodding to people as they call out to her as she pasted. Suddenly, Sumatra stopped. At the foot of the stairs was an air horse mare, standing there, waiting. The mare was blue roan in color, her mane, tail, and three of her legs were black. Her face however was blended from black into white toward her nose. She had a white stocking on her left leg. Most astonishing though was her eyes for they were shocking blue. The breast plate on her chest showed the Valnerian badge. The mare watched as Sumatra dismounted the last step and walked over to her.
"What took you so long," the mare whined playfully . "It took me only a few minutes to leave the room and you it takes you hours."
"Complain, complain," said Sumatra teased. "Silverwings, you're always complaining about something."
Silverwings looked at her, smiling. Sumatra, who was laugh though her teeth that sounded like a snake hissing.
"Bella asked me to meet her," Silverwings looked surprise; Sumatra continued. "She wants to talk to me at sundown in the Multi- Window Room."
"For, what?"
"I don't know, I'll find out soon though," Sumatra answered.
*****
As Sumatra entered the large, cavernous room; she looked around. The room was made entirely of large, floor-to-ceiling windows. Furniture sat in the room for both human and horse comfort, all made in particular heights. At one side of the room, a couple of colts and a human boy were chasing each other around a table. As she walked to one of the windows, one of the colts stopped abruptly and stared at her, in which was a big mistake as the rest had plowed into him and they fell into a pile. Laughter exploded afterwords. Sumatra couldn't help but to laugh. The boys smiled at her and continued there chasing game around the table. Sumatra stood there, watching them chasing each other until their mothers had came for them. Standing alone, Sumatra watched the sun set between the famous Bella and Bello Monuments and the Aurora Borealis dancing across the continuing darkening sky. Suddenly a figure revealed itself in the window beside her, a white mare with gentle eyes. Sumatra turned and bowed. Bella smiled at her, and then joined her at the window.
"Beautiful isn't it," said Bella staring at the Northern Lights.
"Yes, I used to watch them when I was a child," Sumatra laughed. "Unfortunately I still do."
Bella chuckled.
She stared at Sumatra for a moment, and then said.
"Tell me on what you thought about today's public meeting?"
Sumatra frowned.
"I could not believe it," she said. "He did not believe one word, but yet the proof was in front of him,”
"Denial has its ways of controlling the mind, in which is why you must do something for me."
"Of course, what do you want me to do?"
"I need you keep an eye out for any more trouble and to act if necessary on anything suspicious," she said, seeing the look on Sumatra's face, she continued. "The people need your protection more. As long as there is Valnerians in the castle, I'll be fine. But you are needed, for the peace within the North of North has been broken and needs to be repaired."
Bella looked at her, “I'll will need your word, Sumatra. For you are my most trusted.”
"Of course, my service, my blade, is yours."
