Chapter 4
A small group of Wolf Riders and there wolves sat in a forest clearing, one of them was on the ground as a female rider knelt down beside him, in which she was stitching a wound on his thigh. He jerked a bit as she worked on the wound, and he chomping down hard on a stick in his mouth to stop from screaming out in pain.
"Hold still," she said, "Your only going to make it worst."
The other rider pulled the stick out of his mouth, to give a reply.
"It hurts Vonta," he yelled at her, and then he quickly placed the stick back into his mouth.
"Well I can't help it Tyren," Vonta snapped back, as she give another tug on the string, "maybe you should have let the Valnerian finish you off, if you didn't want to feel the pain."
And she gave a sudden yank as she finished closing the wound, which caused Tyren to let out a muffled yell though the mouth full of stick.
"Be lucky that was all you've gotten," said a rider across Tyren. "The Valnerian could have killed you easily."
Tyren snarled at the other as he pulled out the stick and spat out bits and pieces of wood in the same time.
"What makes the difference, Baltar your both dead anyway because you've lost the bag," Vonta snarled at the rider.
Baltar glared at Vonta, and he said.
"I could not have done anything, any way Vonta. For I lost more then just the bag; I lost my pride and my honor in that sword, lost in battle."
"Your going to lose more then a sword Baltar; maybe you should have let her kill you, and gotten it over with," came a voice and every rider in the clearing looked around. “Because after I'm done with you, that dishonor would be well worth it!”
"Its Calypso," Vonta whispered, as she and every rider, stood up in a sign of respect.
A blond haired woman rode into the clearing and stopped before the small group. She dismounted off a black wolf, who gave a deep growl as she walked over and turned to face Baltar directly. She had a scar over one of her dark eyes, which made her look even more menacing as she stared at him.
"What happened," she asked in a hiss. " Oh! Let me guess, Baltar......In order to save your unworthy hide you handed over the bag as a tribute for your life, is that it?”
There was no answer.
“ANSWER ME!” Calypso screamed, smashing equipment beside her.
"There was nothing I could have done Calypso, this Valnerian was very well trained."
Calypso's eyes burned with anger.
" Don't...lie...to...me!” She hissed venomously. “All I see was a fool who is led by a horse, Baltar I don't want to hear your excuses!”
"This Valnerian was no ordinary Valnerian, Calypso," Baltar tempted to speak.
Calypso glared at him with pure evil in her eyes. “I don't want to hear anymore!” And she pulled her sword from its scabbard.
Baltar gasped and back away; there was fear in his eyes now.
"NO! It was Sumatra!" he shouted, suddenly, his voice shaking with terror. "It was not my fault! It was Sumatra who showed up!"
Calypso stopped; her sword raised to strike. She stared down at Baltar, who had collapsed down on the ground curled in the fetal position. It was an ugly sight! No one has ever seen such a combination of hatred, and anger on a person's face it was scary.
"Sumatra," she snarled, staring down at him though those cold eyes. Baltar looked up at her; nodding. “You just spared your life, Baltar!” And Calypso place her sword back in her scabbard. The voice spread though the crowd like a very icy breeze.
Baltar propped himself on his elbows, looking up at Calypso. The tension was thick! Everyone was silent.
"Sumatra ," Calypso said in a icy whisper; the crowd shivered. She stood like a statue, breathing heavy. Finding his voice, Baltar chanced it.
"I take it that you know her."
Calypso looked down at him.
"Oh I just don't know her, I loath her," Calypso snarled. "Sumatra was the one who gave me this." And she indicated the scar over her eye with an impatient wave of her hand. "That woman; I should have known, Sumatra would have somehow wormed her way into this. The more and more she foils the plan the more she figures it out. And if she figures it out, she'll do anything to stop it!"
“What should we do?” Baltar asked sitting up. Calypso stared, a twisted evil smile spread a crossed her face.....
“Kill her!”
Baltar looked away from those cold, icy eyes.
“Yes, ma'am,” he replied softly.
“Make sure that you do; for this is your last chance, Baltar!”
And at these words she remounted her wolf and tore off back out of the campsite and out of sight.

After the short meeting with Bella, Sumatra and Ala rode back out to the country side, taking there patrols around the country and other populated areas, making sure that everything was clear. Sumatra kept an eye and ear out for any sign of trouble or anything in a way of a disturbance. Ala however was enjoying herself looking out into the wilderness, a smile on her face.
"Oh lighten up, Sumatra ," Ala proclaimed, prodding Sumatra in the ribs. “There's more to life besides work, you know!”
Sumatra snored, and didn't say anything, but glancing around as they approached an wooded area. Ala however rolled her eyes.
As they entered the forest the silence was bliss, but yet eerie. As long trunks of trees reached for the sky; as vines whipped themselves around rocks and tree trunks. Dappled sunlight shown though the leaves of the canopy; making the forest glow in enchantment. In the distance; the sound of a river could be heard, and a deer or two dash in alarm in the sight of them. Silverwings looked around in amazement, as she snored a whisper.
"Wow this is beautiful."
Sumatra looked down at Silverwings.
"Yeah it is, but yet also dangerous," Sumatra said looking around at the trees.
Ala turned her head in Sumatra's direction.
“Why do you say that?”
“Because it is,” Sumatra said softly, “almost anything can happen, and you wouldn't know it.”
“If you say so,” Silverwings snorted
Sumatra couldn't help to chuckled, and looked at Ala; to find her staring.
“What?”
Ala's smile grew wider.
“About time, woman! You actually laughed,” said Ala.
Sumatra rolled her eyes; giving a small sigh. Ala smiled even wider.
Sumatra glanced over at Ala briefly; then staring straight ahead again
“Stop it!” Sumatra said, raising her arm, and acted as if she was going to backhand Ala a cross the face.
Ala raised her arms up in mack fear.
"Ok, ok you're the boss, no don't hit me!"
“What?” said Sumatra looking perplex, as Ala begun to laugh; poking Sumatra playfully on her arm; Silverwings and Lily looked at each other; shaking there heads.
Sumatra shook her head; rolling her eyes.
Ala laughed even more.
“Will you cut it out! We have a job to do!” Sumatra snarled impatiently.
“Ok, ok, you sourpuss; I'm just playing! Gees!” Ala said shielding herself from Sumatra; for she looked like she wanted to commit murder.
“Playing? More childish if you ask me!”
Ala glanced in Sumatra direction, blow a raspberry. The look on Sumatra's face made Ala snort in a muffled laughter; Silverwings snorted.
“Again, childish!” Sumatra said softly.
As they continued though the forest trail; the river came into view. The clear, clean water flowed and the smell of the water filled there nostrils; the surface danced like diamonds. Sumatra stared out over the water, and then up over then bank on the other side. Suddenly something caught her attention; movement on the other bank.
"There's someone over there," said Sumatra , pulling Silverwings to the river's edge.
"Are you sure it wasn't a deer or even Kelpie; their sometimes found in this river."
“No this was a person, I can tell by the moment. Plus if it was a Kelpie, would it be more keen on keeping you insight! Remember, Kelpies are masters of deception, and are dangerous if giving the chance. However whomever this is, has the same point of mind. Come on!”
Sumatra touched Silverwings' flanks with her heels; urging her forward. Ala and Lily fallowed.
Cold water splashed up onto them as they crossed. Sumatra pulled on the reins, turning Silverwings around. Looking wary, Sumatra looked around, studying the ground. Ala scanned the forest and open meadow.
"There are imprints of boots in the ground." whispered Sumatra. “I have a bad feeling about this; this way," Sumatra pulled Silverwings towards a deer trail, within the forest.
