By the time it is afternoon, the herd has wandered off from the stream; but no one has gone out onto the hill. We all stay within sight of our water source, nibbling at the forest growth. Some of the horses lay in dusty spots where the sun shines through; Others flick their tail at an insect; Bluebird and Plain stand head-to-tail next to each other, swiping away bugs off each other's face. Skyleaf stands knee-deep in the stream; She flashes her fore hoof out, pawing the water, creating splashes. Eclipse stands on the bank, watching her; After a while, he randomly squeals, rearing up. Skyleaf stops and looks back at him curiously, and then leaps forward with a bit of buck; And continues bounding forward, bucking. She continues going down the stream, Eclipse chasing after her. Wildfire barely notices them; Honeysuckle watches them, but soon goes find a dusty spot, figuring the foals will come back; Iceberg, Feather, and well, all the other horses aren't paying any attention to the foals - except me. I sneakily trot into the forest a little, then along the stream, following them, unnoticed; maybe I can leap out, scare them; I'm such an evil big sister.... Skyleaf suddenly halts, Eclipse ramming into her behind before noticing what she's looking at; But I can't see what they have sighted. A downed tree with many branches blocks my view. Skyleaf takes a step forward, ears pricked; She continues taking steps forward, her curiosity urging her forward. I take a few steps to the side, trying to get a view, also curious. Eclipse moves forward after Skyleaf, but then stops and stays. I continue moving around, trying to see, soon stepping out onto the soft stream bank, forgetting that I'm trying to stay unnoticed - but when you see a massive animal, with a long, rounded nose that sorta resembles a horse's, big floppy ears, and looks to be about five times your size - I guess you kinda forget what you were doing. Beside it, a younger version of it stands. I sniff the wind, catching the scent, soon learning these animals; I believe they are called moose. The cow moose, the mother, observes every movement of the approaching Skyleaf, deciding whether she, Skyleaf, is a threat or not. I start to walk forward too - but in what seems like seconds, Skyleaf comes too close, the cow's alarm suddenly goes off, and she plunges at Skyleaf. The foal, being not that terribly close, wheels around and charges away, but I already know - Skyleaf isn't fast enough, the moose's enraged stride equals several of hers.......Eclipse flees the scene, which leaves one foal for me to not worry about. I know I should run. Escape. Number one instinct is to leave at first sign of danger, no matter if another has fallen. But what about when Desperado rescued me from the coyote? The coyote was barely anything to this moose, but Desperado won't save Skyleaf in time - so this is all up to me. All this happens in maybe four or five seconds. Skyleaf and the moose race across the water, the foal's eyes showing their whites in fear; The moose's eyes state pure anger. I charge forward, and right when Skyleaf flies pass, I leap out between her and the moose, catching it's attention. When I land with a splash, the moose is sliding to a stop, rising up to pound her hooves at me; I bound across the stream(luckily it is a shallow section, the deepest part only coming half-way above my knees)right when her hooves slash through the air and slamming down onto the stream's bottom; where I was only two seconds ago. After crossing the stream, the cow hot on my heels(who knew such a clumsy looking thing could be so fast?), I bound up the bank(now being on the other herd's side), and fly into the cover of the trees; but the cow stops at the bank, and snorts - and then she plods back to her calf. Shivering from all the action that happened in mere seconds, I wait until the cow and her calf leave before crossing the stream, and slowly walking back to the herd, where I am greeted by a few nickers; Everyone goes back to what they were doing though. What just happened, isn't really a big deal to them. Honeysuckle nuzzles me proudly; I prick my ears at her, pleased. Skyleaf and Eclipse trot up to me, Skyleaf still a little shaken, and they nibble on my mane playfully, expressing their thanks. I nibble at their thin manes too, and soon they wander off. Still a little stressed, I go to the stream's edge, and dip my muzzle down, taking in a soothing gulp; When I look up, I can barely see Sunstorm watching from within the trees. But then he's gone.

Well, I'm not sure how exciting that was, as it was a little short, but I guess when thrilling things happen, they DO happen in a flash! So now I have to figure out what next shall happen! Anyone have any requests?

How do you know what will happen in the next second? How do you know what will happen in the next minute? The next hour? The next day? The next week? You don't. Anything could happen. Which is why we horses don't plan what will happen. We only do what the situation calls for. We were running. Full of glee, happiness. Foaling around. It was Skyleaf, Eclipse, Autumn, Ashes, Warrior, and of course me. I had just slid to a halt, Ashes chasing me, and did one of my famous veer-around-and-charge-at-my chaser moves. I lunged at the colt who was desperately trying to get away; My teeth snapped shut, inches from his smokey-colored skin. And that was when it happened. All that time Eclipse and Warrior were chasing Skyleaf, Warrior only half trying to 'catch' the filly. Her strides lengthen; Her head goes up and down with her gait; I halt, watching her; Too fast, I think. She was trying too hard, she couldn't take it, she was too young, wasn't strong enough to manage the rate of her speed. I know she's going to trip. I know she's going to tumble down, slam into the earth. I know I should warn her. So why am I not? It seems like in half a second, she goes from galloping full out to tripping over her own legs; She stumbles, her forehand going down; But she tries to recatch herself. And she almost does. But no, that's not how it works. Her foreleg lands it's next mark in a hole; SNAP! She falls down, her speed now making her go head first; Her hindquarters go up over her, and her foreleg is torn out of the hole. Warrior and Eclipse slow down; Eclipse makes a big circle in order to slow, and stops beside her. Warrior doesn't circle, only slows down to a walk comes up to her. She whinnies loudly, almost like a scream; the pain clear. Her foreleg is broken. I race forward, but I slide to a halt as Copperstone reaches her filly, and is soon standing by her side protectively, pinning her ears flat down and baring her teeth viciously at any who comes near; I stand at a distance, watching, as Copperstone nudges the frantic foal, who is trying to get up, but can't. She lays there, eyes rolling in fear, pain. Desperado dares to come near. When Copperstone gives him the ugly face, he gives her a warning face back; She ignores it though. When he is a few feet away, she lunges at him; He squeals with outrage, and chases her away from Skyleaf, then goes up to the foal. He sniffs her as she tries to get up again; But she crumbles down, nearly blacks out. And that's when Desperado rears up and pounsa his hooves down on her. He sniffs the once lively foal once more, then satisfied, leaves. Copperstone rushes to Skyleaf, and sniffs her; She nudges her, as though trying to get her to wake up. She paws a little, but when the lifeless body shows no response, she understands what has happened, and leaves. Eclipse trots forward, and stops at Skyleaf's side, thinking maybe she was only sleeping, like Copperstone had thought. He squeals at her, rears up, kicks his hind feet in the air. He receives no response. he nudges her, paws at her. Nothing. Honeysuckle walks to him, and nips his flank, pushing him away. Several herd members come and sniff the foal. I am one of them. I linger near her a little longer. But just one sniff and I know for certain she is gone. So I go graze with all of the other horses. Copperstone is as sad as any mother-mare would be. She doesn't nibble at a single strand of grass. I wander down to the hill, enter into the trees; I halt when I see Sunstorm on the other side of the stream, casually drinking. I raise my head, arch my neck some, and perk my ears. Is he here to play? Skyleaf is pushed back in my head a little. She was Eclipse's best friend, but she was only a herd member to me. Sunstorm notices me, and whinnies, the water he was supposed to swallow rushing back out of his mouth. I trot-prance forward, and when I get to the water edge, I bound in, and spring across it in several long leaps. And so we play. I rear up, pawing at Sunstorm, who backs up then rears also; I charge forward and bite his side, and he squeals and bites me; Only he bites me hard. I squeal, snapping my teeth at him; He immediately lets go, backing up when I charge at him; Payback. I can feel the slight dribble of blood down my side; Not a steady flow, no, but enough that I'm not letting him off easy. Sunstorm spins around and runs, and I thunder after him, slamming on the speed. But seconds pass, and I'm not catching up. What the heck? I should be caught up by now! I'm always the fastest of my playmates. So I stretch my strides out even longer, though I'm careful not to do what Skyleaf did.......Eventually I catch up to Sunstorm and bite down on his hind leg. He squeals and kicks, and I release. So it seems I've found someone game enough to play(or more like fight?) as rough as I do. More of those bites followed afterward, and many minutes passed; I was about to pound my fore hooves down on Sunstorm, when I heard the unmistakable whinny - or more like roar - of Desperado. Uh oh. We both halt what we're doing, solid as a statue as we look on at the black stallion, weaving through the trees, head down and tail flying behind him; And it's clear he's not happy about something, and that something, is Sunstorm. Sunstorm spins around and flees the scene, just as Desperado is leaping across the stream. He charges toward me, and quite roughly bites at me to go back to the herd. He chases me all the way up to the hill. I give him the ugly face the whole way.

Awesome! I love how horselike they behave! Instead of being all Boo-hoo-hoo they're like "What's done is done time to move on" XD

Desperado shouldn't have killed Skyleaf..... :'(I know that's how it goes, though, cause I read a scene like that in a book once.
